Install smart card windows server 201212/28/2022 I make the same configuration changes in 7.5, and its like it doesnt even attempt to retrieve a certificate. So I went to RDP in today, and it opened a new session, and subsequently ended the copy process. I tested smart card authentication in IIS 6 from the same client machine, and I get a prompt to choose the correct certificate from that site. So the reason this ticked me off is because I kicked off to have our old image files dumped to an external HD, and since it was 660 GB total it was going to take awhile (20 hours), even using USB 3.0, so I left the explorer windows open and left the server alone. Even though the only thing I do in my rdp sessions is disconnect, since I'm in them most of the day. On the Windows operating system, the Windows Inbox Smart Card Minidriver, msclmd.inf, enables base functionality for using PIV smart cards, such as YubiKeys, which have already been provisioned with at least one credential. So anyways the issue I have had from the get go, that really didn't bother me until now, is that whenever I RDP into the server first off it has my login name listed, but if I click on it, the system asks me to enter a "smart card" even though I don't use smart cards, so I always have to click on "Other User" and login that way, but doing that seems to always start a new session. We are a Server 2003 shop, but I recently was able to get two servers and installed server 2012 on one of them, with plans on consolidating a few of our current servers roles to our new server. I'm having an issue, not sure if this is normal or not, for server 2012, but I couldn't find any info on Microsoft about this so was curious if anyone else has run into this.
